After listening
to the comments of Swain's customers it was realized that the area
needed a toy store that catered to the creative and reading needs
of children from newborn to preteen. When planning Swain's expansion
for early 2004, it was decided to create a "store within a
store" called
ToyFun®. Swain's utilized the talents of one of their experienced
buyers, who at the time was the mother of a six-year-old daughter
and twin four-year-old boys (who often served as testers of toys
and books), to select all the toys and books and to merchandise
the ToyFun® store.
The products for the new store were selected to emphasize toys
that are NOT electronic and require few batteries. The ToyFun® selection
highlights a love of wooden toys, imaginative toys, puzzles, puppets
and games that are creative and fun.

A huge
collection of stuffed toys by manufacturers such as Gund are being
offered. Many of the toys selected for the ToyFun® store may be remembered from your own childhood.
The expansion also gave Swain's an opportunity to enlarge the art
and craft oriented merchandise for children. The children's book
selection is extensive, very special and unique to Swain's. ToyFun® is
a great store for parents and grandparents looking for the very
unique, imaginative or creative gift for any special occasion or
just for the ToyFun® of it.
The immediate success of the ToyFun® concept is evidence that
our customers were correct on the area's need for such a unique
